I do not hold any of you—or rather, any ordinary person—responsible for starting the war. But for the “lack of empathy” and this “fatal naivety,” yes, I do.
It is obvious that the Islamic Republic is absolute evil; you do not need to explain this to us, who have spent every day of our lives fighting this regime. But have you truly believed that Israel and America have come for the freedom of Iran and our liberation? Is this the first time you hear the names of these countries?
As long as bombs have not fallen on the heads of your loved ones, it is easy to call civilian deaths “collateral damage.” But beneath the rubble, these words smell of blood. Have you considered that if the country’s infrastructure is destroyed and Iran becomes defenseless, even with the best possible government, how will it manage to survive in this region?
The destruction of dictators is beautiful, but our blood is no more precious than that of other people in the world for our story to have a different ending.
If Iran one day rises from the depths of this catastrophe and devastation, its name will be “miracle,” not the result of the plan of those who are dropping bombs on us today.
