Under the 1285 summer camp website has to be a threshold notation pointing the state of project…
And I really have to find a better notation for the threshold…
I have to collect my ass and create handles for essays in Archive
Okay, implemented the custom handles on the essays. Took 20 minutes. Why didn’t I do this earlier?
Testing Threshold of The Reverse Viewpoint , it should work.
Also implemented custom handle names for the essays. That had to be there too…
Testing Mind Kernel .
Currently handles in Archive resolve to a specific thing. I think they should be like octothorps in social media, resolving to a collection of things that share the same tag. Thinking in graphs my friends.
One thing I have done in Archive that I’m so proud of is in the LLM Serializer, it always (on every instance) writes the nickname of a person following their whole full name. And I always refer to people with their handles in the Archive not their names. (if they are in the Archive ). This helps LLMs so much in exactly knowing who I’m talking about, and so I recently hardly find any hallucinations or problems in that department.
I have a very long todo list for today and tomorrow. But I’m perfecting the Karion Calendar on the Archive . Before that I was thinking about buying another shelf, inks, things for my desk, and if my dark lilac ink was truly a sheen color…
There is something interesting about people who work with kids, they do everything they do much richer: Better designed, nicer interiors, better characters… It seems growing up doesn’t just kill creativity, it kills the soul.
So far I talked to Fateme H. She agreed to talk to 🬪🬖🬫🬙🬪🬵 for me.
I also talked to Mohammad , he told me he knows a good place around Za’feraniyeh that is even bigger than 300m, it’s about 600 meters. And that he can secure it for me.
There is something about my series of graph theories, they are somewhat coming from my experience with deprivation of richness. More and more my life went on, in all directions I lost things, I lost friends and family, Iran became poor and more and more the spaces lost their elements, and then stupid morons brought the flat design, and even the digital world became less and less rich. So I felt that emptiness and I had to fill it. When you need to think about these basics, you may find a philosophical angel to them as well. It’s sad basically. Its sad that your basics can be this important and fundamental, they had to only be basics.
Roya showed me FabLab in Tehran today. What amazing things we have in this country…
I want my work to have the effect of the ending of the third movement of the concerto 2 on people. So full of goosebumps that people die of excitement, so much in enlightenment they question reality, not just something normal. I want the weight of the work to be so high people get shocked for years. I want what I endured by seeing Maestro Victor for the first time on people.
I hate it when anyone needs me.
Oh and Patoo is alive and well, her children are too, but their health is not.
My right ear is hurting. What is going to happen to me?
The point of Archive is to say things once and never again.
One blessing about cats was for me to witness four generations of cats, coming to and out of this world in a span of six or seven years. It was like a fast paced movie or a god like experience.
I talked to Roya about needing to find a place and people who can work with our artists on design thinking. In our talk:
- Roya told me she will checkout places for 1285
- She also mentioned a few good places we can checkout:
- Sharif Box
- This one is just more than great as it gives me the place to be the there myself.
- She told me in their basement; they used to have things for doing wood working; and other good things like 3D printing.
- She mentioned that the place was called “FabLab”
- And that Innovation Factor may also have a place
- And that overall, given what she told me; we can have all the co-working spaces to checkout and use. They are probably the ones that can offer us the way.
- And that she will look for similar places. Buddha bless her.
- On the other hand I asked about her knowing people who can working with Design Thinking as more junior ones. That made her ask some questions and say she will look for those people.
When Ashkan initially suggested the project be named 1285 , everyone thought it is a joke. People internally called it “School 42” or “Future School” and even we have documentations calling it “School of Iran”. I was the only person who absolutely insanely loved it. And well, Ashkan was not joking, so we forced the name to stick. Still, everyone wants to shatter the name and the logo.
In this document, I wish to explain the name and the logo, and why it is absolutely the best name for this project, a miracle, and its whole DNA.
The Absolute Genius Of Ashkan
Ashkan initially named the project “1285” because he wanted to have something similar to School 42. It might be a coincidence, or that his mind has baked this name for a whole long time. Given what I know about him, my verdict goes with the latter. He has for a good while now been inside this graph of old tradition and world of intellectual revolutionaries in the history of Iran. If there was a film like “Night at the Museum” in Iran, Ashkan definitely would be Ben Stiller. Exact same vibe. And well the name is so genius and layered. You see:
1285 is a very radical and awesome name in itself already. In terms of being catchy and all that; it is such a great name. We have run out of good names for a whole while. Today if you want to name something; you have to do it by either (1) Combining words, (2) Creating a new meaningless word, and (3) Putting it after a brand name. (1) and (3) are what I always do and hardly find that much of a joy in it because great names require to be unique; and to my wonder there could not be a name more unique than 1285 . Ashkan did his absolute masterpiece by naming the project that.
It really is hard finding a great domain for your name; people have begun to remove the shame in using new TLDs. But you know apple.xyz is not apple.com. The fake smell comes. For 1285 only one domain could ever work; and that is 1285.org. As amazing as that. And guess what? No one had the thought to buy that! It is now mine!
And finally; even good names can have little meaning. Apple is a great name; but it only shines in the fact that one person, Steve Jobs , could claim what that was for everyone to be his. This is like gays owning the rainbow now. But the root of 1285 ? A revolution; and not just any; beginning of democracy in Iran. It signals our roots; lineage; theme; alignment; scale…
This is the pure genius of Ashkan ; A name as great or even greater than Apple.
My Fusion With The Logo
Now; while Ashkan ’s naming of 1285 is truly brilliant and as said — one of the best namings in human history no doubt, I have on my side; taken the idea to my world when designing the visual look for it.
1285 is a revolution and when you take a revolution and look at how Iran looked like in the days of 1285 ; you end up with a bunch of men drinking tea and holding guns. So; right away; it did not work for my lineage of great people; Humanity; respect; dignity; dedication to life and peace and beauty and harmony; the rational scientific peace and culture that unites them. That thing you see in American and Russian space agencies working with each other when their countries are at war… That is what I love about this kinds of people: Rejecting all forms of borders and kings; being a higher level of humanity.
And so in designing the Logo of the 1285 ; I did a few subtle things that an informed reader — after this essay, or someone enough deep and aware might understand:
First: I took the Iranian look of the revolution and took it away. 1285 should not load the culture of Iran to anyone’s minds. I want a more modern and new form of a revolution. Something beyond borders. And so; I looked at the epic art of the revolutions. Taking it from bullies in the street with guns to the hands of artists with their brushes. As you know; 1285 is the home of artists and the Logo has to be a revolution through their artistic eyes.
Second; I looked at art and found the intellectual element that was not so much violence; but rather icon: The epic flags in the heights of revolutions in the wind; Epic and iconic.

And so; in third; I designed a logo of the flag with a form of brown that feels like Da Vinci’s notebooks; old; epic; artistic; and pure. Then; put it against a black background.
This framing; effectively made the logo to be like a replica; through the merch store of the Louvre or a historical museum. It stripped the violence; and birth smell of the revolution and framed it inside of a museum. And so given Media Ecology; McLuhan, Victor; and me; you should know that it loads a different “context”.
It is graph engineering; it loads “epic”; “world changing” in the civilized context of a “museum”. You can smell a great Mocha and some sweets; a holiday; walking calmly in a great day in a museum; you are most definitely enjoying a great day; and people around you are nerds; artists; intellects; people who want to know; love peace; people who care.

And now that is inside the logo. Also; as you may know; the logo is created inside AnnotationsKit ; it is rendered algorithmically with absolutely right precision; and then AnnotationsKit uses Wind Simulation shaders to distort and shade the flag. It embodies the care of Jony Ive ; the spirit of care and owning a fully deterministic programming tool of Maestro Knuth ; and my ethos of "owning the world and all of its tools; with as much independence and harmony as possible; the:
Vision → Philosophy → Theoretical Framework → Practice → Tool → Integration → Result
Stack that makes my things “Pouya”.
So 1285 is the absolute fusion of Ashkan and me taken to the maximum of all practices and philosophies I know. People before us each had perfected one aspect of a great brand, but 1285 has all of them unified. And that unification of all great things, that is the DNA of 1285 . Something no other name and logo could and can deliver. A whole universe of ideas, practices, lives, histories, schools of thought, tools, and everything about the whole 1285 compressed to one logo, imprinting it into the unconscious.
