Encoding Kary Date On @archive's LLM Export.

So I realized that mac is showing the content of txt files on their icons, and for that added a Figlet based encoder on top of the LLM Serializer that adds a large kary date on top of the file and so when you look at the icon you see a little date on the icon and so you can easily distinguish them.

Quotes & Excerpts

If your TV is making money from your data, what data is it actually collecting? The answer starts ACR. Explained with something called automatic content recognition or ACR.

Smart TVs sample whatever appears on screen, create a digital fingerprint of that content, and then send it back to a server for identification. They’re essentially Shazaming everything you watch.

On TVs like the The data Samsung S95, the data was clear enough for us to isolate. With ACR enabled, they sent regular bursts of data to identifiable endpoints. But when we disabled ACR, that traffic stopped. On other TVs, like the TCL QM8K, we couldn’t neatly separate ACR related traffic from ordinary background communication. That made it harder for us to actually verify what’s happening when you do or don’t consent.

But the network activity became much more active when we connected a PlayStation 5 or a laptop. That’s right. Your TV isn’t just tracking whatever you play on Netflix. It’s tracking everything you plug into your TV. Your laptop, your gaming consoles, USB drives, all of it.

The shadiest example we found was Roku OS. For one, its terms of use had to be opened up in a separate browser, which is annoying. And we couldn’t find any clear mention of ACR or ACR related language anywhere in the terms. The first time we actually encountered anything related to ACR was when we got to the hands-free voice remote setup page. The TV asks for your consent to let the remote listen and collect data so you can use it for voice commands. And it’s only here that Roku links you to their privacy policy where they mention that they collect your viewing data. But the kicker is that you can’t move past this page unless you agree. Most people would reasonably assume they’re only consenting to the remote’s microphone here, not agreeing to the broader collection of their viewing data. Roku Every TV calls ACR something different was just the most egregious example we found. But many TVs hide these settings within broader policy agreements and then have them enabled by default. then they make it incredibly difficult for you to find and turn them off after setup. In fact, if you want to withdraw consent on your TV right now, you might have to look under settings labeled viewing data, viewing information, interactive services, enhanced viewing, or some other label entirely depending on the brand or the platform.

Wooden pencils were used to Photoshop faces back in the 1940s. When portraits were shot on film negatives, a specialist would remove wrinkles by carefully drawing over them, because darker areas on a negative show up brighter on the final print.

I study the formation of stars, galaxies, planets, and all of those formed either in gas or from gas. And so I’m asking: how do fluids interact with gravity?… pretty much anything in astrophysics is behaving as a turbulent fluid, and thus we have to think about the Navier-Stokes equations because that’s what describes them. Same as on Earth: if we think about the atmosphere, if we think about the weather, if we think about the climate, if we think about a ship on the ocean, that’s all fluids; that’s all Navier-Stokes calculations.

Basically, physics is partial differential equations with some set theory.
